Close to midnight on Saturday January 16th, officers were called to the intersection of Old Eagle Rock Avenue at Eagle Rock Avenue. Roseland Police had located a driver who had stopped her vehicle in the middle of the roadway and turned off her headlights. Upon speaking with the driver, a 29 year old female from Avenel, officers detected signs that the driver may have been under the influence of alcohol. Several field sobriety tests were conducted, which the driver failed. She was placed under arrest and transported to Police Headquarters. Once at Headquarters, the driver refused to submit samples of her breath and was charged with 5 motor vehicle violations, including DWI, Refusal to Submit to Breath Testing and Careless Driving. She was given a court date and released the next morning.
(It should be noted that charges are merely allegations and any/all parties are presumed innocent until pleading guilty or being found guilty in a court of law)
