On Thursday, October 5, 2023, Officer Scott Cohen conducted a motor vehicle stop for speeding on Runnymede Road. Due to the officers’ training and experience he had the female driver, 69, who resides in West Caldwell, step out of the vehicle to conduct several field sobriety tests to determine if she was able to operate the motor vehicle safely. Officer Cohen concluded that the driver was unable to operate the motor vehicle safely and she was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Once in headquarters the driver’s blood alcohol content was determined to be above the legal limit. The driver was released without incident and was issued four motor vehicle summonses. These charges are merely allegations, and the driver is presumed innocent until she is found guilty in a court of law.
