On Friday, August 4, 2023, Officer Victor Gonzalez conducted a motor vehicle stop for an equipment violation on Roseland Avenue. Due to the officers training and experience he had the female driver, 35, who resides in Caldwell, step out of the vehicle to conduct several field sobriety tests to determine if she was able to operate a motor vehicle safely. Officer Gonzalez concluded that the driver was unable to operate a motor vehicle safely and she was placed under arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence. Once in headquarters the driver refused to submit to the breath testing. The driver was released without incident and was issued three motor vehicle summonses. These charges are merely allegations, and the driver is presumed innocent until she is found guilty in a court of law.
