On the night of Thursday, December 9, 2021 Officer Leigh Leaf conducted a motor vehicle stop for an equipment violation on Roseland Avenue. Due to the officers’ training and experience she had the driver step out of the vehicle to conduct several field sobriety tests to determine whether he was able to operate a motor vehicle safely. Officer Leaf came to the conclusion the operator was unable to operate the vehicle safely and he was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Once in headquarters Officer Leaf conducted a Drug Recognition Expert Evaluation and determined the operator was under the influence of a drug. The driver was released without incident and was issued two motor vehicle summonses. These charges are merely allegations and the driver is presumed innocent until he is found guilty in a court of law.
