On August 30, 2023 Sergeant Leaf and Officer Gonzalez were dispatched to an attempted motor vehicle burglary. The witnesses were able to provide the make, model, and registration of the vehicle that the suspect fled in as well as descriptive information regarding the suspect. North Caldwell Police conducted a motor vehicle stop of that vehicle in question containing the suspect. A witness was able to positively identify the passenger as the suspect, later identified as Owuraku Nketta Jantua Osei-Du of Little Falls, 22. Mr. Osei-Du was placed under arrest and charged with criminal attempt to commit burglary. These charges against Mr. Osei-Du are merely allegations and he is presumed innocent until he is found guilty in a court of law.
